eScan is far away better than everything I saw till now, I had few viruses through the system registry and others through the operating system, I had 3 different antivirus systems installed (Mcafee, Windows Onecare and Norton) first of all none of them could find the viruses and I couldn't understand why my system was so low.. Till from mistake I saw your antivirus, got the trial and now my computer is back to his normal speed which makes me very happy!

and a second thing I love the firewall (eConceal firewall pro) a lot.. has cool features, I use for example Internet from a local network.. and some "friends" of mine tried to access files from my computer without letting me know, the firewall has this lovely option and asking me.. this ip is trying to access files from your computer.. let him or block? .. and of course.. they get blocked.

I have tried some other antiviruses, but none of them works with my computer. I have Windows Millennium. Your product is light and works well, although at times I get a message which says that there has been an error when downloading the mail, but this is not an important issue as my computer does not collapse, and I only have to close and open the mail program again, and your antivirus scans the mail again. I use Outlook Express. The good thing is that I can scan my computer for viruses. With Bitdefender, Karspersky, etc., my computer went dead when scanning the system for viruses. I was getting frustated because I need a reliable antivirus. I get a lot of mail daily and some of them contain viruses

Even though I pride myself with the ability to remove spyware,
hijacks, and viruses, I finally met my match with the Backdoor. Prorat virus. Nothing I did would remove this menace, short of reformatting my hard drive.

Before I was reduced to this ghastly task, I was informed of the MWAV Toolkit Utility. As a last resort, I downloaded and activated the software and ran the virus scan. Not only did it remove the Backdoor.Prorat virus, it also removed a couple of minor viruses that other premier virus software products failed to notice.

I really appreciate MicroWorld for providing such a fine product. I especially like the fact that I can pay under $10 for an as needed use. Far cheaper than taking my computer to a professional to get it cleaned.

Shukran for your emails and yes I am keeping this checked. Some feedback on the standalone desktop side I have personally evaluated your product and find it interesting, user friendly and like the content scanning side which works extremely well for surfing. It works so well that when blocking porn sites I could not even download human body anatomy site :). On the con side it is quite easy for a user to right click the eScan icon and disable the web filter. On this prompt I believe a password or something needs to be used to allow a child or somebody to overrun. I have removed sophos from my machine and am quite excited by the varied toolsets offered. I am on the trail version for the home desktop which is expiring pretty soon but I will not go back to sophos so I am sold. On the biz and LAN version we are busy with testing and I will let you know the outcome pretty soon.

In toady world it has become necessary to take every possible precaution to avoid the possible effects of a virus or spyware program.
I have onboard 10 different spyware, adware, malware programs.
Last Sunday, two of those identified that I had a SCKeylogger detected. Neither could delete or quarantine it. I subsequently went on line to three additional scans.
Two online scans detected the same keylogger but they also were unable to delete them. Every effort I attempted to delete or identify the infected file was thwarted.
It was if there was an additional cloaked file.
I was subsequently given your site by a virus forum tech. I am so grateful to him for giving me your site.
Your program was the only program that was able to identify the second (cloaked) file. Because of that, you saved me an enormous amount of additional aggravation and time. Once you identified that second file it actually became fun taking the needed steps to delete it. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity and making it available to download your program for free.

I think PC World should be giving your program accolades and promoting your product above the other ones they are promoting.

With a program like yours and the apparent expertise you appear to have, I am surprised that you do not have a help forum.

As I promised I've endorsed your company's product via word of mouth advertising. I sent the following letter to about 75 fellow "ham radio" friends and also to the remainder of my address book.

I have (for a LONG time) been suffering from a condition of my high speed cable connected computer running very slow especially on the Internet. Speeds on this test ---> http://www.aroundcinci.com/speed test/default.asp <--- were varying a lot but generally around 0.8 Mbps (less than 1 Mbps) when they should be 3 to 5 Mbps. This past weekend I had the added misfortune of encountering a nasty virus called Backdoor.win32.prorat.17 even though I was running Norton 2003 with current updates.

I couldn't fix it. A fresh retail purchase of Norton 2005 with the latest updates downloaded not only couldn't remove it, it couldn't even find it any better than NAV 2003. Still, every time I booted the system I got a Norton message saying it had successfully repaired a system file and my system was now "safe" to use. It must not have been fixed it very well because the message kept reappearing with each bootup!

Further attempts to fix it were unproductive. Finally, via --> www.cnet.com <--, I located another antivirus program called eScan at ---> http://www.mwti.net/antivirus/eScan/escan_antivirus.asp <---.

They let you download and run it for FREE. The repair function is disabled until the product is purchased. The price is $25. I downloaded the file and installed it. THUNDER AND MAGIC!!! SHOCK AND AWE!!! It not only found the virus I knew I had but two more viruses and a bunch of popups and hidden spyware programs I didn't even know I had.

Keep in mind Norton with the latest updates didn't find or fix a thing. AdAware also said I was clean. Registry Mechanic said I was clean. Pest Patrol said I was clean. All these had the latest updates.

I investigated this new program at various places on the Internet and called the company in suburban Detroit. A gentleman with an Indian/Pakistani type accent answered. The company has been in business for nine years. He listened to my story and said he had heard the basic version of my problem many times before. He reassured me that if their program located it that it would also fix it if I purchased the program.

They have 24x7 support. More on that later. He recommended that I NOT have any other popup, antivirus, or email filtering programs running when trying to run ESCan because it would run better without conflicts. He also recommended that I consider buying the upgraded version for home use called Internet Security Suite for $58. It includes the antivirus product plus their replacement for Zone Alarm, a popup blocker and a customizable email screener. It's only $8 more than Norton's price.

By then I was so disgusted with Norton that I uninstalled it and purchased and downloaded ESCan/ISS. It, indeed, eventually found and fixed everything the basic ESCan program found initially. The one minor bump was that 58 of the hits it found were located in the hidden --> _RESTORE <-- file used by the system to automatically do backups. It could detect them there but the whole folder is specially protected by the operating system so that nooooooobody can write to it. I figured there must be a way around that problem but couldn't figure out how to do it.

At 1:45 a.m. I wrote a feedback to the company asking how to go about fixing the problem. I then headed for bed but within 10 minutes I had a personal response back detailing some secret screens in the Operating System on how to fix my problem. THIS WAS LIVE SUPPORT AT 2 AM!!!!

In short, I am done with Norton for good. This product is better than Norton, it costs half as much ($25 vs. $50), the automatic upgrades come three times per week for free, and the annual renewal subscription is half the purchase price.

My original speed test that was 0.8 Mbps is now running 3.5 Mbps or higher.

The free evaluation copy is fully functional (except repairs). It is about 21 Meg in size.

That seems to have done it! All 58 infected files failed to be detected during this pass of eScan. The pass isn't done yet but it is well past the point where I saw all the files being posted into the log.

I bought and installed ISS tonight after talking to Pravin earlier
Wednesday. I had Norton 2005 and Spy sweeper telling me I was 100% ok but still had problems booting. Your e-scan virus protection said I had MANY viruses and spyware still running. The installation fixed everything EXCEPT the infected files in the "_RESTORE" folder. I haven't found the workaround in your help files yet. What can be done to fix those infected files? I am running Windows ME.

I would like to say that I had experienced many problems lately and my computer was infected with numerous virus/adware/spyware infections. As a 'full-on' user of computer systems and constantly on the Internet I have had to ensure that my virus protection is right up to date and functioning to its fullest.

Recently I was approached by E-Com 2000 Ltd to try eScan from MicroWorld Technologies Inc, and as my system was frequently experiencing virus problems, I decided to give it a go.

Imagine my surprise when, after updating and running the various anti-virus programs currently on my system, I found five undetected viruses/Trojans when I then ran eScan

I was so impressed that I decided to try eScan on the company's system- which was checked 'live' by a well known anti-virus package.

After all, I have become very sensitized after dealing with Zone Labs. :) I had Pc Cillin, and I know many like it, and I did before they seriously bloated it... Also, it constantly writes to my hard disk, up to 30 times per second, as part of some type of "security scheme" according to trend micro. Unfortunately, all these disk writes are logged in my GoBack file and take up valuable space that's needed for tracking purposes. Trend says there's no way to reduce or turn it off.

I also tried others, i.e. nod32 among them. I just didn't like either the features or restrictions of some of these programs. Largely preference. Oh, and wrt Nod32, I didn't like 3+ nag screens that popped up during bootup and seemed to interfere with several reboots. I understand they would go away with the paid version, but it irritated me. There were some other issues, but the're partly preference, too.

Then... I responded to Pete Milne's kind post, checked out his product, Escan, and decided to give it a test drive. I really like it. AAMOF, I liked it so much, that it only took me a few hours to decide to buy it. In a nutshell, it's lite, fast, feature rich, uses Kasperky's kernel as the heart of the program, and you can actually talk to a knowledgeable, friendly guy in the process. And, it scans mail at a low level before it reaches your email program, so there's no configuring necessary wrt a particular email client. I'm no computer guru, but I think I understand their low level driver that intercepts baddies before it gets up to the tcp/ip stack. How many AV programs use this low level filtering is something I'm not familiar with, but I perceive this as a plus.

"nada" which basically means Pete didn't ask me to say anything, isn't aware that I am, and no remuneration of any kind has been afforded me other than a good product and superlative, personal help.

It seemed that part of the things that seemed to come with it that was in the opening credits were things like Window Washer. I just wondered where one was supposed to find these programs and such? We have been using eScan (www.mwti.com) since October last year when several of my clients got "hit". Not one of them has been infected with a single virus since then - whether the virus signatures were up to date or not! Let's face it, most viruses these days are e-mail borne, so if you are scanning incoming messages and blocking bad attachments, 99 percent of your troubles will be solved. Around 80 percent of the viruses coming into my machine (but being blocked!) are coming from machines supposedly protected by Norton's Antivirus - says something about that product me thinks! The content management is a real bonus and simple to manage!

Norton is ok - but we have been using a program called eSCAN for over a year now and it is much better than Norton or McAfee. Norton and Mcafee can cause problems with installations on machines, especially if the windows installations are dirty (been used for a while) - thats why we switched away. I can say for sure, that if you sell Norton to a bunch of people, you are going to get emails/calls from a decent portion of users who will experience lockups, shutdown problems, and GPF's from it. Escan always installs without any problems - and we have installed dozens and dozens of copies on a wide range of PC's.

In fact, I tell customers that if we do work on their PC's, and they want to reinstall Norton or McAfee, they do so at their own risk! eSCAN is such a superior, hassle free product you should really consider it! Plus, it has the best detection methods, superior automated daily updates, and supports many compression schemes (also updated on a regular basis) that are used by virus writers to trick less powerful antivirus applications into letting a infection through.

One thing that is nice about eSCAN is that it scans for a virus before it reaches the application (such as Outlook) - it works on the TCP/IP level - not the application level. Second - the update procedure used is automated, very configurable, and the most seamless in the industry. Mcafee and Norton's update procedures are a hassle to use - and thus - the data file updates never get done by the end user, and infection occurs. In addition, there is a version of the software (MailScan) available for all email servers, either by installation on the server itself or via a smtp gateway.

We use it on all our servers, and stop dozens of infected files every day in their tracks. We also route all our outgoing mail through our MailScan protected servers, and block SMTP (inbound and outbound) access in our routers to all but our MailScan protected email servers - thereby insuring that we never infect a customers machine through our routed email or via directly sent SMTP email originating from a client. Your support staff, and developers, for your hard work on eSCAN/MailScan Service Pack 2. It addressed several critical issues and has made my support of the product much easier. For example, Word documents with comments entries that had been altered by the infecting virus would cause very slow load times with service pack 1 - while service pack 2 did not have such difficulties.

In addition, the way that files with multiple extensions (or multiple . in the file name) were troublesome until SP2.

In any case, thank you for your continued efforts in improving the product. It is well on its way of becoming the new defacto standard for virus protection - all due to your hard work and dilligance.

I am honestly impressed with the program, many virus scanners make all manner of claims but I have never been one to believe all I read and I make my mind up by using my own judgement.

I shouldn't really pull other AV scanners apart but one comes to mind which is a monster in my opinion, Norton is huge, it eats system resources like no other AV app I know and in my experience of working for the Windows 95 help team many years ago, it just doesn't do the job.

I found Elia-Shim while I was on Windows 3.11 and have stayed with them with Elia-Shim AV through all versions of eSafe up to now a relationship which lasted for 7 years or more with one AV scanner. It was good, and still is but it has become far too aggressive when it comes to stopping Active X and Java on my system. I use my machine for online banking and my bank uses Java a lot for security controls, with eSafe running I can no longer access the bank. Shut eSafe down and no Java or Active X will run until I re-boot. I see their idea but it is a little over the top.

Now eScan allows me to access my bank without any problems and the only problem I have got with it is outgoing mail with Turnpike, with RitLabs The Bat mail client it has no problems whatsoever.

I have used The Bat for a lot of years and prior to that I was with Turnpike when it first came out in the old Win 3,11 days. I was with Demon Internet then and Turnpike was eventually bought by Demon. I bought a user license to allow me to use Turnpike on other ISP's when I left Demon for pastures new (big mistake) Anyway I moved my ISP from BT Internet a week or so ago and I decided rather than have a dialler, mail app, news app and various other bits floating around I would go back to Turnpike which has the lot in one package, including ping, finger, tracrt, time setting, call logging, PGP and more.

found eScan and loaded it and all was fine until I tried to move mail out with Turnpike. I am not deterred one bit by this little setback as I suspect it may be the way in which Turnpike works that is throwing the program.

I have no doubt at all your software engineers will find a way around it and I am already telling friends of mine what a program it is and a few have come back with comments about how it scans all mail in which many apps do not do until the mail is actually sat in a folder somewhere but you seem to do that job at the winsock level or quite close to it.

I won't knock eSafe as it has been a good and very reliable program over many years but it is no longer of use for how I use the Internet. The aggressive blocking of code will be of use to new users as they will be fully protected. For novice users I still think eSafe is a good bet but for people like myself who need to access sites with a lot of Java enabled screens it no longer works as I need it to, whereas eScan does exactly what I want.

Keep up the good work you have there a great program and one that any user these days should not be without.

I do like the eScan program though and I will be buying a copy as it seems to work exactly as I want it to work. All mail is checked as it arrives, it is careful with Java and ActiveX controls but not as eSafe was getting, over careful and it's blocking, has over the last year or so, become very aggressive. I do all my banking online and a lot of other work and the sites I use make use of a very large amount of java and activeX for their security. eSafe, although a superb program and one I have put my faith into for many years (Elia-Shim prior to eSafe) is just too aggressive when it comes to these sites. It tends to block me completely and once it's done that I have to re-boot to be able to get back on the site again with eSafe turned off completely, something I do not like to do in this day and age. However eScan allows me to access my sites with no alteration in the setup but it seems to catch everything nasty coming in here. I have already mentioned it to some friends and you can rest assured I will be mentioning eScan a lot more in the very near future. I am even prepared to stay back here in The Bat and dump Turnpike, which I just purchased as I no longer have an account with Demon Internet who let their users have it for free.
